Wells Branch MUD reports 11.41% water loss; PFAS testing below traceable levels

Crossroads utility manager Dallas Worth told the Wells Branch MUD Board on Nov. 19 that the district’s water loss for the reporting month was 11.41%, and he attributed a portion of that loss to a leaking valve at Summit Drive and Thomas Sinclair Drive.
"There had been water loss of 11.41%," Worth reported, and he said staff anticipated that repairing the leaky valve would reduce unaccounted-for water in the next reporting period. Crossroads and the district’s engineer will continue a valve survey and coordinate timing with traffic control to perform valve exercises and necessary repairs.
Worth also reported results from PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) testing required by new EPA rules: the six PFAS compounds the EPA has set enforceable limits for were all reported at below traceable/detection levels in the district’s supplied water samples presented to the Board.
On billing matters the Board approved two small write-offs totaling $359.15 recommended by Crossroads. Director Solis moved to approve the write-offs and Director Palmer seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff said Crossroads and the district would finish communication materials for the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions outreach to licensed schools and childcare facilities and return with valve‑survey findings and follow-up in subsequent packets.
