The Wells Branch Municipal Utility District Board of Directors on Nov. 19 formally canvassed the Nov. 5 director election and declared Moises Solis the winner for Place 2 and Jon Klekman the winner for Place 4.
Attorney John W. Bartram reviewed the county-provided tallies and told the Board the combined totals were 2,264 votes for Solis and 1,517 for Margaret McGhee‑Sufke for Place 2 and 3,310 votes for Jon Klekman for Place 4. "The order will declare that Directors Solis and Klekman had been reelected," Bartram said as he presented the Order Canvassing the Returns and Declaring the Results. The Board voted unanimously to approve the order on a motion by Director Shelley Palmer and second by Director Kevin Ward.
Both Solis and Klekman then stood and, as required by law, recited the constitutional Oath of Office before the Board. The Board unanimously accepted the Statements of Elected/Appointed Officer, Oaths of Office and the official bonds for each director. Each director will serve a four‑year term ending after the 2028 director election and will assume duties upon posting bond and taking the oath.
The Board’s action was procedural: the order confirms the election was called and held in conformity with law and that the returns were filed with the Board. No contest was reported at the meeting. The Board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 17, at which time staff will circulate follow-up materials related to the election filings and registration form updates.
