Security committee endorses voluntary registry to help find lost residents

Following two recent incidents in which residents became lost, Rancho Murieta security staff presented a voluntary registry form to help locate vulnerable residents more quickly.
Brandon described the draft form as voluntary and limited to information that would assist officers and compliance staff during a response: a photo (if chosen), height/weight and descriptive details and optional language preferences so staff or community volunteers could assist. "Everything's voluntary that they would sign up for... and only the security department and compliance will utilize this," Brandon said, adding the information would not be shared beyond those uses.
Committee members supported posting the form to the district website, placing copies at the gatehouse, and including it in new‑resident welcome packets. Members also suggested recruiting volunteers who speak other languages to assist in locating and communicating with vulnerable residents when incidents occur.
The committee asked staff to refine the form and then publish it widely as part of a community outreach plan. No formal board action was taken at the meeting; staff will bring the final form and outreach plan back to the committee and, if approved, to the board as an informational item.
