Security committee reports vehicle break‑ins, gate altercation and a crash near Marietta Parkway

Brandon Arino, the district’s security representative at the Jan. 8 Security Committee meeting, summarized a wave of recent incidents near the community’s commercial corridor.
Arino said on Dec. 1 a garage fire on Reynosa Drive required response from the fire department; there were no reported injuries. On Dec. 17, Arino said, a woman in a black BMW became hostile at a gate, nearly drove through the arm and — according to security staff — bumped into a compliance officer. The officer was examined by medical staff and CHP was notified; Arino said the plate used by the vehicle was paper and may have been stolen.
On Dec. 23 a dark-colored Tesla struck a building and a tree on Marietta Parkway across from the RMA building; the driver was transported to hospital and CHP declared the driver intoxicated. On Dec. 27 Arino said two vehicles at the Algaeo restaurant were broken into and radios were stolen; video showed a suspect in a black hoodie who fled in a Honda Odyssey. Members also reported forced-entry break-ins of mailboxes in the post office lobby.
Arino recommended the committee consider mobile, trailer-mounted cameras for hotspot deployment and urged sharing suspect images on community channels. “So let's do that — give me some photos of him. We'll get together. We'll work on a bulletin. We'll get it in the pipeline,” a committee member said, offering to circulate photos on Facebook and Nextdoor.
Why it matters: The incidents span both residential and commercial property and prompted coordination with CHP and the district’s compliance unit. Committee members agreed to consider targeted camera deployment and community bulletins to deter thefts and aid identification of suspects. No arrests or final investigative outcomes were reported at the meeting.
