Shelby, an HR consultant with HR2Go, presented a draft salary survey for unrepresented employees and walked the Personnel Committee through the sources used and the district's current salary schedule. Shelby described the document as an initial overview intended to surface discrepancies in job titles and pay ranges and to identify where further analysis is needed.
"The report is kind of just an overall picture of what the salary survey showed," Shelby said, adding that she would reconcile job descriptions and source dates wherever numbers appeared inconsistent with public-source data.
Committee members raised several substantive points: they asked Shelby to identify a smaller set of five comparable agencies that are most relevant to Rancho Murieta, to separate exempt and nonexempt analyses, and to provide a clear accounting of fringe benefits (health, retirement and other employer-provided items) as a percentage or dollar amount. One member flagged a specific discrepancy between the study's figures for Folsom and numbers on that city's website and urged Shelby to reconcile timing and job-description mismatches.
Members also discussed how overtime eligibility can affect total compensation and asked HR2Go to note where incumbents earn overtime vs. where comparable positions are strictly salaried.
Next steps: Shelby will return with a revised salary-survey draft that more precisely maps job descriptions to comparable sources, reconciles any timing differences in posted pay tables and includes fringe-benefit summaries so the finance team can use the results in upcoming budget planning.
