The Amityville Planning Board accepted an application Jan. 8 to maintain a newly built two‑car detached garage at 168 Oldfield Avenue, but the board required the applicant to obtain necessary permits and inspections to secure a certificate of occupancy.
Applicant Hernan Guaman told the board the garage has been constructed and the siding matches the house. The board noted there were no zoning setbacks or side‑yard issues requiring Zoning Board review. Chairperson Stephen Greenwald told the applicant that "to get your certificate of occupancy, you would have to take out the proper building permits for the garage, have the inspection and have it closed out." The board recorded the garage dimensions as 23' x 18'‑6" in the application.
The board moved to accept the application with the condition that the applicant meet with Building Inspector Michael Breitweg, obtain all required permits and complete inspections. Member Amanda Lowe seconded; the motion carried 5–0.
The applicant must follow the Village Code, obtain the building permits from the Building Inspector’s office, and complete required inspections before a certificate of occupancy will be issued.
