The Findlay Township Planning Commission on March 24 recommended that the Board of Supervisors grant conditional use approvals for two short-term rental applications in the Village zoning district, subject in both cases to proof of commercial liability insurance.
Brandon Stanick, assistant manager/planning administrator, told commissioners that Michael Kubatka’s application (parcel listed at 8,650 square feet) included the required registration but lacked proof of insurance covering short-term rentals ($1 million per occurrence, $2 million aggregate). After discussion, the commission recommended the Board of Supervisors approve Kubatka’s conditional use provided the applicant submits the required insurance proof. (The minutes reference both 107 and 117 Oakwood Lane for Kubatka’s parcel; the address discrepancy is noted in these minutes.)
For the second application, Dan Moskal recused himself from discussion and voting because he is the applicant for a short-term rental at 922 Lodgepole Drive (parcel listed at 13,504 square feet). Stanick again said the registration was included but that proof of the same insurance coverage remained outstanding. Moskal asked whether gas and wood-burning fireplaces were prohibited indoors; Stanick said the ordinance contains a typo that caused the confusion. The commission voted 6–0, with Moskal recused, to recommend conditional use approval conditioned on submission of the required insurance documentation.
Both recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
