West Deer Board adopts 2025 budget, sets tax levy at 2.90 mills

The West Deer Township Board of Supervisors on Dec. 18 adopted the township’s 2025 budget and set the 2025 tax levy, voting unanimously 5–0 to fix the general-purpose rate at 2.90 mills and the fire tax at 0.50 mills.
Supervisor John Hollibaugh moved to adopt Resolution No. 2024-14 setting the tax levy and Supervisor James Smullin seconded; the motion carried 5–0. The Board then adopted Resolution No. 2024-15 to set the Township’s 2025 budget, also on a 5–0 vote.
The action follows presentation of the Finance Officer’s November report, which shows year-to-date general-fund revenues of $8,930,558.99 (83% of budget) and expenditures of $9,116,363.32 (84% of budget). The report lists a total cash balance across funds of $3,994,356.79. The Board approved the Finance Officer’s report and authorized payment of the submitted list of bills by unanimous vote.
Why it matters: those rates and the adopted budget determine the Township’s revenue available for municipal services and capital projects in 2025. The Board will apply the adopted levy to tax-billing processes in the coming tax year.
Next steps: the resolutions were adopted at the Dec. 18 meeting; implementation follows standard township accounting and tax-collection procedures. No additional procedural steps were recorded at the meeting.
