Town staff to review DEP's requested SWPPP 'shutdown' for Rondout tunnel project

Pat Hines (MHE) updated the board on a request from the Department of Environmental Protection related to the Rondout tunnel repair program. The DEP proposed bringing the site into a stable shutdown condition and transitioning monitoring from weekly/biweekly inspection reports to monthly reporting while the permit remains active pending rebidding in the 2030s. Hines said the site has been static since December and recommended the Town review the revised stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) and send the MS4 regulated authority letter with a recommendation.
Board members had no questions, and staff confirmed they will review the revised SWPPP and provide the appropriate response to the Town Board and DEC as applicable.
