The Lexington Planning Commission on Jan. 7, 2026, voted unanimously to recommend that the City Council approve a Conditional Use Permit allowing outdoor storage for a U-Haul business at 209 N. Taft Street. Chair Sadie Worthing opened the public hearing and Secretary Bill Brecks reviewed the application and standard permit conditions.
Brecks told the commission that the site’s current C-3 commercial zoning would carry additional conditions to ensure the proposed use complied with city code. Applicant McKinna Moats discussed the proposal with the commission; there were no comments from members of the public during the hearing.
Commissioner Jeremy Kaiser moved to send a recommendation of approval to the City Council; Commissioner Kristi Moyer seconded the motion. The roll call vote recorded nine ayes (Novoa, Margritz, Tappan, Moyer, Kaiser, Gonzalez, Roemmich, Smith, Worthing) and the motion carried. The commission’s action was a recommendation to the City Council, which retains final authority to grant the Conditional Use Permit.
