Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle told the board the vacancy had been posted on the village website and Facebook and that Kennedy was the sole applicant who submitted a cover letter and resume and was interviewed by the board. Following that interview, the board approved a motion (moved by Bill Schremp, seconded by Dan Mortensen) to appoint Kennedy to the seat.
A roll-call vote recorded Sam Stroik, Deb Ehster, Rex Zemke, Bill Schremp, Dan Mortensen and Village President Dan Helgeson as voting in favor; the motion carried unanimously. The appointment filled the open trustee term through April 2026.
The board proceeded to other agenda business after the appointment; the meeting later recessed to closed session for a separate property-purchase discussion and reconvened before adjournment.
