At the Village of Stone Park Committee meeting on Aug. 26, Public Works (via Code Enforcement reading Superintendent Jessica Ramirez's report) said crews replaced two light-pole fixtures (1600 block of 44th Ave and 1800 block of 38th), responded to an emergency after the Aug. 17 storm to barricade a zone and remove two fallen trees in the 1600 block of 39th Ave, and cleaned weeds from town corners.
Ramirez’s report also said the second round of EPA-required lead-and-copper water sample bottles began delivery to residents, and that an alley resurfacing project funded through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is scheduled to begin Aug. 28. The minutes state the resurfacing is grant-funded but do not list a contract amount.
Fire Marshal Eugenio Mazzulla reported on a residential fire in the 1500 block of 43rd Avenue and said his investigation determined the cause was a faulty outlet where an extension cord had been compressed between the wall and a bed frame, resulting in ignition. The family was assisted by their insurance carrier. Building Commissioner Robert Gonzini told the Committee the building’s fire alarm ensured immediate dispatch and aided quick containment. Fire Liaison Jack Giuffre presented the July 2025 Fire and Ambulance Activities Report; the minutes note no additional action was taken.
