At the April 6 meeting, the Scotland County Board of Health unanimously approved a motion to designate Amanda Holland, the county's Health and Human Services director, as Temporary Health Director while the county continues recruitment for a permanent Health Director.
County Manager Snead told the board that state approval is required for interim and permanent public-health director appointments and that Holland has been fulfilling the interim functions. Commissioner Ivey moved to make Holland Temporary Health Director; Vice Chair O'Neal seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Holland has been serving in the role for several months, according to Snead. The board recorded no conditions or amendments to the temporary appointment; the county will pursue the state approval process as required.
The board will receive updates on the recruitment and any state approval actions at future meetings.
