Glenburn council approves Lakeside Landing handrails, accepts donation and moves to sell tax-acquired property

Town Manager McClung told the Glenburn Town Council on March 26 that the town received a quote for pipe railing at Lakeside Landing and recommended using capital reserve account 491-05 to cover $21,487 for the work. Councilor Day moved to approve the expenditure, Councilor Caruso seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The council accepted a $200 donation to the recreation account from Machias Savings Bank after Mrs. Braley notified members of the gift; Councilor Caruso moved to accept the donation and Councilor Day seconded. That motion also passed unanimously.
Council members authorized staff to move forward with the legal process to sell a tax-acquired property listed as Map 41 Lot 007-08 on Page Road after McClung said a previously arranged payment plan defaulted and the town could not reach the prior owner. Councilor Caruso moved to proceed with the sale process, Councilor Day seconded, and the motion was approved unanimously.
In brief procedural business, Councilor Caruso moved to approve Treasurer's Warrant #20; Councilor Day seconded and the warrant was approved unanimously. Councilor Day moved to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2026 regular meeting; Councilor Caruso seconded and the minutes were approved unanimously.
McClung also informed the council that the current town attorney will retire April 1 and asked the council to appoint Jonathan Pottle as the town’s new attorney. Councilor Day moved to appoint Pottle; Councilor Caruso seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The council adjourned following routine business. The council expects to revisit the landfill fee schedule and other items at a future meeting.
