Douglass Township accepts detective resignation and approves new full‑time officer

Chairman Josh Stouch and the Board of Supervisors accepted the resignation of Det./Cpl. Daniel Castellucci and approved an offer of employment to Liam Chambers for a full‑time police officer position at the April 23, 2026 Douglass Township meeting.

Chief Robert Evans told the Board that Castellucci ‘‘has submitted his Letter of Resignation’’ and ‘‘has accepted a position with the Montgomery County Detectives’’ after assisting on a high‑profile case. The Board voted to accept the resignation. Evans also gave the department’s March activity totals — 970 calls for service, 92 traffic citations, two criminal arrests — and said the department is pursuing two grants for new patrol vehicles and in‑car camera systems.

Evans asked the Board to approve an offer of employment to Liam Chambers; the Board approved the offer with a roll call (Vice Chairman Don Bergstresser‑Aye, Chairman Josh Stouch‑Aye, Supervisor Sara Carpenter‑Aye). Several residents asked questions before the vote: one asked whether license‑plate readers were in use and who could access that data; another asked whether overtime had exceeded budget. Chief Evans replied that overtime did not exceed budget last year and said rising call rates and population increases were driving the need for another officer.

The Board discussed letters of commendation for Castellucci, which Chief Evans was asked to prepare for the May 18 meeting. The new hire’s start date was not specified in the motion.

The Board accepted the Police Department report as presented. The matter of camera and data access was raised as an item for further research by staff.
