Southampton committee adopts slate of 2026 administrative resolutions, approves leases and mosquito-control authorization

The Southampton Township Committee approved a series of administrative and operational resolutions at its Jan. 6, 2026 organizational meeting, covering professional appointments, financial procedures and interlocal agreements with emergency response organizations.
Township Clerk Melanie L. Brown and Mayor William Raftery presented the resolutions, which included Resolution 2026-03 (professional appointments), Resolution 2026-04 (cash management plan), Resolution 2026-05 (2026 temporary municipal budget), Resolution 2026-06 (interest on unpaid taxes), Resolution 2026-07 (annual notice of regular meetings) and a group of additional resolutions through Resolution 2026-21 addressing tax assessor corrections, insurance fund appointments, partial-payment policy for taxpayers, public agency compliance officer appointment, mosquito control authorization, animal control appointment, sub code official reappointment, and lease agreements with local emergency squads and fire companies.
At the request of Committeeman Ronald Heston, Resolution 2026-08 (designating official municipal newspapers) was removed from the consent agenda for separate consideration. The committee adopted the remaining consent items by roll call. Resolution 2026-08 was then taken up separately and adopted with a recorded vote in which Committeeman Heston voted no and four committee members voted in favor.
The committee also authorized leases for ambulances and vehicles with Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad, Hampton Lakes Fire Company and Vincent Fire Company, and approved the township’s temporary budget and cash management plan for 2026. The committee unanimously approved bills for payment before closing the public comment period and adjourning.
Most items were adopted on a single roll-call vote as routine organizational business; the separate vote on Resolution 2026-08 was the only recorded dissent noted in the minutes.
