Southampton Committee votes to apply for state grant for park and Town Hall playground; passes other routine measures

At its Jan. 20, 2026 meeting, the Southampton Township Committee voted unanimously to authorize applying for a grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for improvements to the township recreation area and the Town Hall playground (Resolution 2026-24). Committeeman Arnold Harrison moved the adoption of three resolutions—Resolutions 2026-22, 2026-23 and 2026-24—and Committeeman Ronald Heston seconded; the roll-call vote was 5–0 in favor (Committeeman Harrison, Committeeman Heston, Committeeman James Young, Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Rossell and Mayor William Raftery).
Resolution 2026-22 directs the Tax Collector to adjust an account pursuant to the Totally Disabled Veteran Exemption; Resolution 2026-23 authorizes reserve budget appropriation transfers during the first three months of the succeeding fiscal year. The committee adopted the measures together by roll call.
The meeting also approved a used/new car lot license for VIP Auto Outlet (221 Route 530) and multiple storage-container licenses at addresses listed on the agenda. A Firemen's Association application for Cheyenne M. Yohnnson was approved. Mayor William Raftery moved approval of the bills for payment; Committeeman Ronald Heston seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The Committee adopted Resolution 2026-25 to enter executive session for attorney-client privilege, entered at 6:17 p.m., returned at 6:52 p.m., and Township Attorney George Morris reported no action was required following the closed session. The meeting adjourned at 6:52 p.m.
