Committee approves boat rental and sales permit in Minocqua, requires at least 19 parking spaces

The Oneida County Planning and Development Committee unanimously approved May 27 a conditional use permit for R&R Rentals LLC to operate a boat rental and retail sales business with outdoor staging and display at 212 W Chicago Ave in the Village of Minocqua (Lots 11–13, Block 7, PIN MI-3319).

Planning & Zoning Director Karl Jennrich and Land Use Specialist Scott Ridderbusch presented the application, noting notice had been published and that correspondence from the Town of Minocqua was in the file and read into the record. Staff recommended approval conditioned on compliance with Oneida County sign and parking regulations and standard site controls.

The committee’s conditions included: no change in the nature and extent of the approved use; compliance with Oneida County Sign Regulations (section 9.78); off-street parking per section 9.77 with a minimum of nineteen parking spaces; downcast shielded lighting; screened dumpsters and recycling; and staging/display boats to be placed in designated areas per the approved plan.

Karen Schmeling spoke during the public portion. The committee then conferred with Tommy Ryden about parking and maintenance concerns raised in public comment; that discussion was informational and no action was taken. Billy Fried moved approval and Michael Tautges seconded; all members present voted Aye.

The permit is approved with the listed conditions; the applicant must secure required permits and comply with county regulations before operations begin.
