Oneida County committee approves permit for storage building in Pelican with conditions

The Oneida County Planning and Development Committee voted unanimously May 27 to approve a conditional use permit for Joshua Johnson to construct a storage building for snow-plowing and lawn-care operations with outdoor storage at 3261 CTH G in the Town of Pelican.
Karl Jennrich, Planning & Zoning Director, and Scott Ridderbusch, Land Use Specialist, presented the application and read the Town of Pelican’s letter into the record. Staff told the committee that notice had been published in the Northwoods River News and that an affidavit of mailing and correspondence were in the file.
The permit was approved subject to 10 conditions recommended by staff: the use must not change from the application; signage must comply with Oneida County Zoning and Shoreland Protection Ordinance section 9.78; off-street parking must comply with section 9.77; any lighting must be downcast and shielded; dumpsters must be screened and applicants must recycle as required; required town/county/state permits and state-approved plans must be obtained (including shipping containers where applicable); outdoor storage must be limited to designated areas on the site plan; stormwater runoff retention must be installed per plan; the facility is subject to Wisconsin DNR requirements for non-domestic wastewater holding tanks; and a certified survey map must be recorded if sideyard setbacks cannot be met.
Vice Chair Dan Hess opened the public portion of the hearing; no members of the public spoke. Bob Almekinder moved approval and Billy Fried seconded; all members present voted Aye.
The committee’s action was a conditional permit approval: the permit carries the listed requirements and will be implemented only after the applicant meets the conditions and secures any required permits and approvals.
