Trustee Mitchell also reported a completed dog-park extension and plans to reseed and organize volunteer brickwork.
A representative of Harambee on the Hudson outlined preparations for a Juneteenth community celebration at Dutchman's Landing projected to draw 300 to 500 people, with vendors and live music; organizers still need to file an application and pay any required fees. Artist or proponent Phillip Howey presented plans for a bronze Rip Van Winkle sculpture for display at Dutchman's Landing; the board signaled support pending fundraising and site logistics.
President Law noted community events including a May 16 car show and the Catskill High School "Spring Rush" event scheduled for May 30, 2026 (safety meeting May 27). Trustees also announced a Downtown Revitalization Initiative update and reported that the public library received a Community Development Block Grant award for $1,000,000; the board discussed a site walk for a possible mural at an unspecified location. DPW plans include a South Cairo waterline extension kickoff scheduled for April 27 at 8 a.m., and the Dutchman's Landing playground is set to open soon.
