The producer contacted adjacent landowners in the fallout area; staff noted a farmland owner to the immediate south had not yet responded to outreach. The fire department recommended temporarily closing Carr Street (Bower Street to the access road north of West Cherry Street) from roughly 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for spectator safety; the fire department will place and remove barricades.
Council asked whether the county jail would be within fallout or safety distances; staff said measurement shows separation of about 1,100 feet and that the facility is outside required exclusion zones. The council approved the permit and the temporary street closure by voice vote. Staff noted the city already contributed $6,000 from the BBB fund earlier in the year toward the fireworks display.
