Connorsville board approves fire department training and uniform reimbursement agreement

The Connorsville Board of Public Works and Safety voted June 1 to approve an agreement requiring new Connorsville Fire Department hires to reimburse training, gear and uniform costs on a decreasing schedule if they leave prior to a three-year anniversary.

The agreement, introduced during new business, will be signed by new employees and specifies reimbursement on a declining scale over three years, with larger repayments required the earlier an employee departs. A board member supporting the motion said, "I think we need it. We've needed it for a good while," and added that the terms would be disclosed to new hires before they accept employment.

The vote to adopt the agreement was taken by voice; the presiding official announced the motion carried. The board also approved the meeting minutes and the claims docket during the same session. The clerk read the claims as follows: City claims $96,990.90; payroll $599,633.54; utilities $597,871.22. Those figures were read from the clerk's report and approved by voice vote.

No members of the public spoke during the meeting. The board offered brief remarks wishing the Connorsville boys baseball team good luck and then adjourned.
