Pinckney board approves consent agenda and names new assistant principal

The Pinckney Community Schools Board of Education voted to approve the consent agenda, which included resignations, retirements and the recommendation to hire Daniel (Dan) Feria as the high school’s new assistant principal.
Superintendent Basha introduced the recommended hire, saying the district had recruited a candidate currently working as an assistant principal at an arts‑focused magnet school in Connecticut. The superintendent told the board that Feria has a background as a music teacher, experience as a site administrator and summer program leader, and two master’s degrees in music history/ethnomusicology and educational leadership. Basha said the candidate “brings a wealth of experience” and has local family connections and plans to relocate before the coming school year.
Board members discussed the personnel slate briefly and moved to a vote. A board member moved approval of the consent agenda; the motion was seconded and passed.
The consent agenda also recorded several staff departures and retirements the administration described as amicable and tied to employee moves or retirements. The administration said it will post vacancies and proceed with hiring for the coming school year.
The board then moved on to board announcements and the rest of its agenda.
