During its Nov. 5 workshop, Hatfield Borough Council also covered several routine items and next steps for near‑term actions.
Engineering recommended release of $84,351 in maintenance escrow for Edinburgh Square after a final inspection and required follow‑up work; staff will notify homeowners about basin maintenance practices and ask the engineer to clarify questions such as planting choices and tree placement in basins.
The Hatfield 250 committee outlined a slate of commemorative events through mid‑2026, including panel discussions on the Declaration of Independence, a candlelight event at the Morgan Log House and a May 30 living‑history day at School Road Park; ticket details and volunteer opportunities were noted.
Public works reported three outages during October and said sectionalizing fuses limited the impact; staff also noted they received the invoice from Hatfield Township for a joint paving project and will place the billing on a future regular meeting agenda. Police staff reported installation of a new 'Hatfield Police' sign at the station and said a community celebration is planned when finishing work concludes.
Finally, fire and EMS provided routine monthly call statistics and noted new reporting software for the fire department.
Next steps: engineering will place the Edinburgh Square escrow release on the Nov. 19 regular meeting for formal action and staff will circulate event and utility schedules and any related action items.
