The Owensboro commission voted May 5 to approve Ordinance 9-2026, changing the name of Lagoon Lane to Bertolei Way after a request from a local company connected to a facility expansion.
City Manager explained the company (identified in the record as Ragu) is expanding and will use the street for truck access in addition to its existing entrance on Ragu Drive. "The company asked if we would consider renaming Lagoon," the City Manager said, explaining the renamed street reflected a product line and the company's investment in the community. The ordinance passed on second reading by roll call.
Commissioners expressed lighthearted appreciation for the company's local presence during the discussion. The change will be implemented administratively and recorded in city street and addressing records.
