Eagle Lake Improvement District wins board‑size flexibility; county amends establishing order

Sandy McClur, secretary of the Eagle Lake Improvement District (ELID), asked the Sherburne County Board on June 2 to amend the ELID establishing order to change the board‑size language from a fixed five members to a range of five to nine. McClur said the change would provide flexibility for future lake‑quality work, including planned alum treatments and possible absorption of lake‑association responsibilities.
McClur told commissioners that ELID members do not intend to add directors immediately but want the option available as projects and volunteer capacity grow. She said the ELID board had voted unanimously to request the amendment.
Commissioner Hulls moved to consider amending section six of the establishing order; Commissioner Felber seconded. Commissioners asked whether the ELID had formally voted; Sandy McClur confirmed the vote was unanimous. The board adopted the amendment on a voice vote.
The amendment gives the ELID the ability to expand its board when needed to support additional lake projects and grant management; staff did not present an implementation timeline at the meeting.
