Skippack EMS leaders reported to the board June 12 that the service handled 266 calls last month and transported 134 patients. EMS described call distribution across stations and noted that call volume is down in some areas because of local staffing and on-site EMT coverage at a senior facility.
EMS presented a prioritized equipment list and cost estimates. The highest-priority item was a replacement set of Lucas automated CPR devices; EMS said the existing units are at the end of their service life and that operating without a maintenance contract could present liability risks. The EMS representative explained warranty and trade-in timing drove an early order for some units and that delivery timelines for specialized equipment can extend several months.
Other items on the prioritized list included AED/defibrillator replacements for multiple stations, infusion pumps required to meet upcoming protocols, replacement sewage pumps at the EMS building (a failure has left the station operating without redundancy), and bay-floor repairs. EMS asked the board to review the vendor quotes and consider placing a subset of purchases on the next meeting’s agenda for possible funding or partial support.
Board members thanked EMS and discussed logistics for reviewing quotes and possible funding timelines; the board said it expects staff to place prioritized requests on the next meeting agenda for formal consideration.
