Township updates residents on road, sewer and airport construction; PennDOT bridge meeting scheduled

Township staff updated residents June 12 on several infrastructure projects, including local roadwork, sewer design and nearby large-site construction, and highlighted opportunities for public input.
Township engineer reported that the 2024 road-improvement contractor is completing handicap ramp upgrades in multiple neighborhoods and expects milling and paving operations to begin shortly after the Fourth of July; contractors will mail notices and distribute door-hangers two days before work begins. The engineer asked drivers to slow down near active work zones.
Design work is under way for a proposed low-pressure sewer extension on Cream Road; surveys and preliminary plans are complete, and staff expects to bring bid documents and cost estimates to the board in August or September for authorization to advertise.
At the airport property, Toll Brothers has begun earth-moving and hangar demolition. Staff said sedimentation basins, silt controls and outlet structures are being installed to reduce sediment-laden runoff; contractors responded after residents reported dust issues during initial operations. The township encouraged residents to report unusual overnight activity near the site.
Separately, PennDOT will hold a virtual public meeting June 13 at 7 p.m. on the Skippack Pike bridge replacement project. The county and PennDOT plan to widen the bridge, add a walking lane, remove an interior span to reduce logjams, and address traffic detours during construction expected this fall/winter. Residents were directed to the township Facebook page for links and recorded meeting access.
Next steps include further design and bidding milestones for the sewer project, continued site monitoring at the airport, and PennDOT’s public comment period for the bridge replacement plans.
