Finance and police staff said they have not identified receipts showing the township receiving that $150 portion. The solicitor cautioned that when the fee is collected through the state portal the township may not directly receive the funds and that if the township does not receive the fee, any refund would effectively be paid from township funds. Council asked staff to verify payment flows and report back.
The police chief noted the local department conducts fingerprinting and background checks as part of the process, and the solicitor said the department's work supports charging a local fee if the township does in fact receive it. No decision to issue refunds was made; the council directed staff to research the payment trail and return with confirmed information.
