Aurora board approves multiple special-use permits, grants and routine spending; votes at a glance

The Town of Aurora board met Dec. 9, 2024, and approved a series of SEQR determinations, special-use permits and routine financial actions, while opening a separate public hearing on a rezoning request at 397 Old Glenwood that received public comment but was not voted on.

The board adopted negative SEQR determinations and granted special-use permits under chapter 116 (zoning article 3) for the following properties: 59 Cook Road (short-term rental to Jennifer Higgins), 275 Bowen Road (short-term rental to James and Donna Atkinson), 140 J (bed-and-breakfast to Douglas Neik), and 1150 Underhill Road (bed-and-breakfast to John Radford). Each resolution passed after a motion, second and vocal assent from the board.

Board members also authorized the supervisor to sign bid-package documents for the East Filmore Avenue and Church Street Bridge projects and approved final land-acquisition documents for the Church Street Bridge project. The board authorized the supervisor to sign a memorandum of agreement between the Highway Union and the town regarding health insurance contributions and approved an agreement with Auctions International.

In financial business the board approved budget transfers requested by Highway Superintendent Dave Gunner, an appropriation adjustment requested by Kathleen of $5,595 to buildings and grounds, and a bundle of capital and operating expenditures: two elliptical machines for $1,898.30 (ARPA funds), a tilt trailer for $4,695 (partial ARPA funding), HDMI and ethernet installations, shelving and devices for the building department, and other items as listed in the meeting packet.

The board also authorized adding a late agenda item to allow the supervisor to sign NERTA grant paperwork and then authorized the supervisor to sign the NERTA $50,000 grant agreement; members thanked the Climate Smart Community task force for its work on the application.
