The Woolwich Township Committee on July 21 voted to table Ordinance 2025-12, an amendment to the Kings Landing Redevelopment Plan, after Mayor Matthias said the Township discovered a potential issue with the public notice for the ordinance earlier that afternoon. The Committee set the ordinance to be re-addressed at the next meeting on Aug. 4.
The tabling motion was made by Committeewoman Williams and seconded by Committeewoman Minhas; the roll call vote to table was Minhas: Yes, Williams: Yes, Matthias: Yes (3–0). Mayor Matthias explained the delay was to ensure “proper due diligence regarding the notice.”
During public comment, a resident of 10 Wilshire Blvd. asked whether the ordinance’s street-tree language would allow residents to replant dead street trees in the same location. Mayor Matthias said the provision the resident referenced applied only to the affordable-housing zone under discussion, not the entire Township, and reiterated that the Township follows the 2024 tree ordinance. He also noted that developments typically carry maintenance bonds for landscaping as required by state law, and that responsibility for trees transfers to homeowners after the bond period expires; residents were asked to email the Township with property-specific concerns to allow staff to verify bond coverage.
The tabling preserves the Committee’s options to correct any notice defects before the ordinance is read on its next scheduled agenda on Aug. 4. No final action on the Kings Landing amendment was taken at the July 21 meeting.
