The City of Cudahy Board of Health on June 28 approved revisions to two departmental policies aimed at clarifying responsibilities and ensuring compliance with federal programs. Health Officer Katie Lepak presented the updates before the board voted to adopt them.
The board approved a rewritten Vaccine Handling Policy, which the department said was reformatted for readability and revised to assure compliance with the federal Vaccine for Children (VFC) program, which helps cover vaccine costs for uninsured children. The department said the new layout is intended to make operational steps easier for staff to follow and to ensure VFC requirements are met.
The board also approved an updated Lice Policy. The minutes state the lice policy was revised to clarify the health department’s role in responding to clients with lice; the previous version emphasized the school district’s responsibilities. Patricia Borkowski moved to approve the policy updates; Alderman Mike Johnson seconded and all voted in favor.
Lepak said the department will circulate policy drafts by email before future meetings so board members can review them in advance. The board did not record any amendments to the policies at the meeting.
