Residents raise employer-wage concerns; council hears cleanup credit from Mid Valley Disposal and a grants update

Mayor Martinez and Mayor Pro Tem Libertad Lopez presented Proclamation No. 24-02 designating October 2024 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month to Jessica Sailor of the Marjaree Mason Center; Sailor described MMC services and noted MMC provides classes to high school students. Chief of Police Smith introduced Police Officer Steven Mares, who thanked the council and MPD for the opportunity to serve.
Public comment also included a request from Sergio Valdez of Mendota Youth Recreation that the City consider replacing the scoreboard at the Benny Mares Sr. Baseball Field and the possibility of using Mendota Unified School District baseball fields to host a Cal Ripken tournament because city fields were described as not an adequate size.
