Commission grants conditional-use permit for auto-glass business at 2239 Fort Worth Highway

Staff presented the request and described the proposed business as primarily commercial and residential glass repair and replacement with a limited auto-repair component that would cover auto-glass work only. A staff member said the CUP would apply only to the auto-repair portion of the tenant’s business and recommended approval subject to conditions.
Applicant Tim Clark, who identified himself and his Weatherford address, said the property sat vacant and that the prospective tenant would use existing buildings and make exterior improvements. Clark told the commission, "When they said auto repair, it's not auto repair. Won't be cars sitting out there with the hoods up and stuff being fixed," clarifying that the intent is glass-related repairs rather than engines or transmissions.
A commissioner asked specifically whether engine or transmission work would occur; a staff member and the applicant confirmed it would not. With no additional speakers, the commission closed the public hearing, took up the item and approved the zoning map amendment and conditional-use permit. The chair recorded the motion and second and stated the motion passed unanimously.
The zoning and CUP approvals will appear on a future City Council agenda for final action.
