City reports $1.4M thoroughfare resurfacing work; program completed over 77,000 sq yd

Public works staff on Feb. 10 told the Weatherford City Council that the city's FY26 thoroughfare resurfacing program completed more than 77,000 square yards of roadwork at an approximate total cost of $1.4 million, under the project's original estimate of $1.9 million.
Matt Lepler, presenting the staff report, walked council through completed thoroughfares — including Adams Drive, Foster Lane, Hilltop Drive and East Bankhead — and described a residential component added this year in the Benninger subdivision (Lori Lane, Grama Drive). "So that's what we did here," Lepler said as he showed before-and-after photos and explained the approach of full-depth reconstruction where needed and overlay where the subgrade remained sound.
Lepler said staff added a residential rehabilitation component to supplement in-house maintenance and noted a planned utility project on Bankhead that shifted some resurfacing sequencing. He reported that, across three years of the council-directed program, the city has completed roughly 7.3 miles of thoroughfare resurfacing and that the council has directed an additional $1 million in each of the last three annual budgets specifically for thoroughfares; staff said this was achieved without raising the tax rate.
Council members praised the work for staying on schedule and under budget and confirmed neighborhood rehabilitation work continued alongside the thoroughfare projects. There was no formal action required at the meeting; the item was presented as an informational staff report.
