The Town Board approved a $400 payment to the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post of Elmira Heights for the Memorial Day parade as appropriated in the 2026 budget.
Resolution #93 authorizes the supervisor to pay the American Legion the sum of $400 when the request for funds is received; the resolution was moved by Councilman Joseph C. Brennan, seconded by Councilman Gary H. Riopko, and passed unanimously.
Supervisor Donald J. Fischer also opened discussion about creating a Standing Committee to oversee town parks. One resident in attendance, Mark Cronin, stated he was interested in serving. Councillors Arthur Laurey and Carl R. Lewis Sr. will oversee the formation process, hold a meeting to establish and appoint members, and identify a chairperson.
A separate discussion on installing a street light near Ambrose Drive was continued to the board’s May 6 meeting while members seek additional quotes and consider expanding the geographic area for bids.
Supervisor Fischer reminded members to respond to the email circulated that morning from Jessica Parker. The meeting adjourned at 9:39 a.m.
