Lancaster County approves probation staffing agreement and amends Crime Commission grant for shelter safety doors

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners approved several public-safety and human-services items June 2, including interlocal agreements for problem-solving courts, a services agreement to provide two probation officers for presentence investigation (PSI) reports, and an amended Nebraska Crime Commission grant that includes safety upgrades at an emergency shelter.
Jeff Curry of Lancaster County Probation explained the interlocal agreements are required for problem-solving courts and that office space and supplies are funded through the county; the agreements are reviewed every four years. The board approved the interlocal agreements unanimously.
The board also approved a services agreement with the Nebraska Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation to provide two probation officers for PSI services; the meeting record lists the cost as "not to exceed $75,25" and staff said the arrangement speeds completion of PSIs for detained individuals by roughly 20–25 days, producing jail-day cost savings.
Lesie Erenss of Lincoln–Lancaster County Human Services described an amended CBA grant award from the Nebraska Crime Commission totaling 1,136,269 that will cover delayed egress doors for Cedar's emergency shelter. The board approved the grant amendment and related Title 2 certification forms and grant compliance documents. The board also approved a disclosure of lobbying activities form required for an ARSAT residential substance abuse treatment grant.
