Two arrested after high-speed pursuit across Kyhoga and Madina counties, official says

An agency official said two people were arrested after a high-speed traffic stop on Route 71 southbound led to a pursuit through Kyhoga and Madina counties and nearly reached Ashland County.
The official told reporters the vehicle was initially stopped for speeding and was traveling "approximately 79 mph in a 60 mph zone." When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit began that moved into Madina County. "The vehicle was successfully spiked by the Madina County Sheriff's Office and subsequently stopped," the official said, and the occupants fled on foot before officers apprehended both the driver and the passenger. "They are both facing felony charges," the official added.
A reporter noted the presence of SWAT and police aircraft at the scene; an agency official said the resources were available at the time and were used to assist in the response. "We were able to utilize the Madina County Sheriff's Office, their SWAT team," the official said. "We had drones and the highway patrol aviation. We had an airplane up. So, we were able to utilize all of our resources in addition to a K9 to help us apprehend the suspects."
The official said no injuries were reported in the stop, pursuit or the subsequent apprehension. The news conference closed after the official answered follow-up questions and confirmed the status of the suspects and the lack of injuries.
The investigation and charging decisions are with the relevant county prosecutors; the official did not specify the exact felony charges or the suspects' identities.
