Board approves right-of-way permits for fiber and power and several motor-vehicle tax exemptions

The board authorized the chair to sign a right-of-way permit submitted by Vier Fiber Networks LLC for about 2.15 miles of fiber installation near Wellfleet on Hansen Road and Bell Prairie; Jason Schultzing, County Highway Superintendent, recommended approval and noted that a check in the amount of $54,065 was attached. The board also authorized a right-of-way permit for Dawson Public Power District to tie into an existing overhead line along Birdwood Road; because it was an overhead tie-in the clerk’s office indicated only a base permit fee of $100 was required.
During the board of equalization earlier in the meeting the county treasurer recommended approval of three form-457 motor-vehicle tax-exemption applications: New Life Assembly Church (2020 Dodge Grand Caravan used for religious purposes), American National Red Cross (two 2026 passenger vans used for blood-drive operations), and West Central District Health Department (2001 cargo trailer for operations). Each item was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Jason Schultzing and Treasurer Sherry Newton provided the technical and financial details for the items; commissioners recorded roll-call approvals for each motion.
