Tell City council on June 1 approved two tax abatement compliance filings, denied a third and scheduled a public hearing on a proposed apartment development.
Connie presented CF-1 compliance forms and recommended action. Council approved HBS LLC’s CF-1 for Furniture Row apartments on 7th Street for the 2026–27 year (the abatement percentage had decreased consistent with the phased schedule). The motion to approve HBS LLC was made by Larry and seconded by Mike and carried by voice vote.
Council then approved Listen Up LLC’s second-year compliance; Gerald moved and Brian seconded the motion, which passed.
Council discussed Riverpoint Retail LLC’s requested 20% deduction for 2026–27 and staff advised the retail space in the building is currently vacant and does not meet the resolution’s requirements for retail occupancy or job creation. Gerald moved to deny the abatement; Brian seconded, and the motion carried.
Trademark Properties LLC submitted a statement of benefits for new multi-family apartments near Windy Creek. Council agreed to advertise and hold a public hearing at the July meeting; the motion to schedule the hearing was seconded by Larry and carried (the transcript does not specify the mover).
Authorities referenced in the Riverpoint discussion included the city’s 2015 resolution and IC 6-1.1-12-1.3 regarding abatement deductions. The council recorded motions and voice votes; no roll-call tallies were provided in the transcript.
