Isma, a staff member who introduced the proclamation, said the city serves more than 6,000 residents aged 60 and up and listed programs that include nutrition, transportation assistance, wellness and social activities. She told the council the seniors ‘‘always keep asking, hey, what if we have a bigger space?’’ and encouraged residents to participate in programming.
Council members and staff noted the city recently acquired a 24‑passenger bus to increase transportation for senior activities. City staff encouraged eligible residents to apply for services and said the Office of Recreation and human‑services partners will provide upcoming details on programs and trips.
The proclamation was presented to senior‑services staff and acknowledged by council members as part of the meeting’s opening remarks.
