Board grants permit extensions and reiterates enforcement actions after resident reports demolition funding

Margaret told the board FEMA funding had been delayed by a government shutdown but was reinstated and that the representative would contact her with timing and the next steps. She said the two properties affected were 122 West 7th and 1222 West 10th and raised concern that one permit was set to expire June 11.
Staff briefed the board on the two permits and asked whether the board wanted to authorize an extension. A board member, identified in the record as Sammy, moved to give a 90-day extension for both addresses; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. "I make a motion that we give the extension to both addresses," Sammy said during the meeting.
Separately, staff reported on 1302 West 9th: all required documentation had been submitted except the engineer's drawing, which Keith Stone, representing the property owner, said should be ready for submission next week. The board voted to extend that permit for 30 days. "I make a motion that we extend that for 30 days on 1302 West 9th," a board member said; the motion was seconded and approved.
Staff also reported other actions: the structure at 322 South Avenue had been removed and the property cleaned by family members; the owner of nearby lots had received a citation and further enforcement was pending. For 522 West 8th, staff said the owner had 90 days (as of May 28, 2026) to remove structures but had not pulled a permit.
The board deferred an update on the 411 Sailfish project to the next BOA meeting because the building official was absent.
The board’s actions address permit expirations and give property owners short, defined extensions while staff continues enforcement and monitoring.
