Superintendent lays out entry-plan priorities: inclusion, safety, Agra Science growth and facilities study

Agra Science received particular attention: Dr. Shells said advisory committees have been redesigned to be problem-focused and that district staff will pursue enhanced public-relations work to "own the story" of the program. He proposed additional superintendent coffees and earlier budget outreach so towns and finance boards have more time to process capital requests.
On transitions and curriculum pathways, the superintendent advocated for a freshman transition academy and for studying how students access honors and advanced coursework, with the goal of preserving options and avoiding premature tracking.
Facilities and capital planning remain on the agenda: Dr. Shells said an ED self-study will prime architects for potential projects and that the district will continue reviewing its capital-improvement plan.
He framed the plan as the start of an ongoing conversation: "When I know better, I'll do better," he said, inviting continued stakeholder input as work proceeds into the next school year.
