Muscatine County supervisors approve FY25-26 budget amendment, confirm local appointments and event permits

After a public hearing with no speakers, the board adopted Resolution 06012601 to amend the FY25-26 budget on a 5–0 roll-call vote.
The board also approved authorizations related to this summer’s local athletic events. Adam Raach, race director for the Muscatine events, described adding two kids races and an afterparty at the park with live music and said the organizers would seek an alcohol permit. Raach explained route decisions were driven by road surface and drainage issues and noted higher pro interest this year; the board authorized the chair to sign liability waivers and approved related road-use and temporary-closure measures for the triathlon and races.
On personnel matters the board affirmed the appointment of Hannah Lane as a medical examiner investigator; the recommendation was made by the medical examiner’s office citing Lane’s EMT, CNA and FEMA background and local ties. The board also appointed Monica Elizabeth Danner to the Muscatine County Veterans Affairs Commission to fill a vacancy through June 30, 2026.
Other routine approvals included grant-related authorizations and contract awards recorded on the meeting agenda. The board approved a special class C retail beer and outdoor service permit for the triathlon at Deep Lake Park and cleared payment requests tied to a Patrick Litty bulletproof vest partnership grant that will cover half the cost of vests for three park rangers.
The meeting concluded with procedural items and a short recess before moving into closed session.
