Following the finance director’s budget briefing, the Hope Mills Board of Commissioners agreed to a follow‑up work session to examine town contracts and staffing before the scheduled public hearing.
Staff provided an Excel workbook that lists recurring and nonrecurring contracts, contract amounts and end dates, and department requests for FY26–27. Commissioners asked for time to review the spreadsheet and for staff to prioritize mission‑critical contracts for discussion.
The board debated whether to recess and continue later that evening or to hold a new special meeting. By voice vote the board approved a motion to hold a new special meeting at 5:30 p.m. next Monday, June 8, to review contracts, staff positions and a budget recap; the public hearing will follow at 7 p.m. that night.
Town staff committed to printing copies of the contract workbook, providing contract priorities, and delivering the compensation/tax scenario numbers requested by commissioners. The meeting record does not show individual vote tallies; motions were recorded as made, seconded and approved by voice.
