The Windham Regional Commission executive committee discussed planned leadership transitions and approved committee appointments for two newly seated commissioners.
Treasurer Tim told the committee he plans to step away after next year’s town meeting and gave advance notice to allow overlap and a smooth handoff for the treasurer role. Another long-serving member also signaled an intention to step down next year; commissioners urged early recruitment to preserve institutional knowledge. The chair said the commission will prepare nomination materials and asked staff to circulate a request for candidates.
Separately, the committee considered committee assignments for newly appointed commissioners. By unanimous vote, the board appointed Art Defresne (Westminster) to Emergency Management and Project Review, and Rick Cohen (Rockingham) to Transportation and Natural Resources. Commissioners asked chairs and staff to welcome the new members and follow up with introductions and staff contacts.
What’s next: the chair will draft and circulate a nominations request under her signature; staff will coordinate onboarding and include succession planning as an action item ahead of the annual meeting.
