Members voted by voice to approve the May 4 minutes and then moved into officer elections for the board’s annual leadership appointments. Margie Davy was the sole nominee for chair and was elected after a motion to close nominations and a voice vote. Vic Oliver was the sole nominee for vice chair and was elected in the same manner. The record in the meeting did not include named movers, seconders or a roll-call tally; outcomes were decided by voice vote.
Planning staff told the board the first input-team meeting on the sustainability plan is scheduled for June 17. The meeting will be limited to avoid quorum problems and will include city staff and about 11–12 community members, who will begin drafting portions of the plan and take part in exercises. Staff said the limited input-team meetings will be followed by broader public input opportunities, though exact dates for public sessions were not specified.
Board members also shared local sustainability items and events. They noted the farmers market has started for the season and thanked organizers of BirdFest for their work. A member reported the city received a local award (referred to in the meeting as a “High Flyer” award) and mentioned newly installed sidewalk decals and signs in downtown advising pedestrians to “walk your bike.”
Brian Slasark, identified in the meeting as the planning services supervisor, attended as a guest during the discussion. The board set its next regular meeting for Monday, July 6, and then moved to adjourn to a workshop.
No formal votes on policies, ordinances or budget items were taken during the meeting; when votes were recorded they were voice votes without a recorded roll-call tally.
