Under the approved distribution, the county will allocate $80,000 to the County Board of Education to cover salary, benefits, training and materials for a school-based substance-use prevention counselor; $36,615 to the 23rd Judicial District Advocates for recovery services and legal counsel; and $25,000 to a human-resources agency to support final construction stages of a 19-unit townhome project intended to serve people in recovery.
Commissioner Merry asked how units would be selected for residents of the counties the project serves and whether a percentage would be set aside for specific counties. A staff member answering during the meeting said, “So they were not able to give us a specific count of the actual numbers, but they did promise that it would have slots for offers,” and did not provide a county-by-county allocation.
The resolution implementing the allocations was approved by the board. The motion and vote were recorded as passed during the meeting.
