Orange County commissioners voted to forward a $100,000 casino-fund application to the county council and to authorize a $67,000 transfer from highway-restricted funds to complete the county match for a $1.5 million County Community Match Grant (CCMG).
Mr. Anderson, describing road-prep work in multiple townships, told the board the $100,000 is part of the county’s portion of the grant and that the additional $67,000 requested from highway-restricted funds “will complete the match for the $1.5 million grant.” The commission moved and seconded the measures and approved both by voice.
Why it matters: the CCMG award is intended to support a significant pavement/road project; completing the local match clears a key administrative hurdle to receive state or federal grant funds. Commissioners discussed the formal process and confirmed they had previously received a verbal commitment from the county council and were completing the required formal approvals.
What happened next: commissioners also reviewed other highway items during the same presentation, including road work schedules. The motion to forward the application and to approve the restricted-fund contribution passed with all members indicating approval.
