Board approves truck purchase and notes long‑time chemist’s retirement

Separately, staff announced that a longtime county chemist (Allen) will retire at the end of the month after more than 40 years of service; board members acknowledged his service and discussed the personnel and operational impacts of the vacancy.
Both items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting. Staff will proceed with procurement and will report back on plans to fill the chemist position.
